When the provincial government reviewed the Police Act between 2018 and 2021, a wide range of stakeholders said they were dissatisfied with the current system of investigating allegations and public complaints involving police. The concerns varied among different groups: police officers and their associations were mainly dissatisfied with the length of time it took to investigate and resolve cases, what they saw as an overly punitive disciplinary process and inconsistent decision making between agencies. The PRC will ensure a straightforward process for all parties, with the goal of providing timelier resolutions and consistent outcomes.
