Thank you to everyone who provided the Project Team with valuable feedback through the kickoff Public Open House event and background survey. All feedback has been consolidated into a What We Heard Report, which is now available in the Project Documents section below.

Invistec continues to progress through Phase 2 of the project and will be attending the January 26, 2026, Town of Taber Council Meeting to make an introduction presentation to Council. Following the presentation, the Project Team will move towards the Phase 3 deliverables including the draft Area Structure Plan. Please refer to the project webpage for future updates.

Project Overview

The Town of Taber (the Town) has selected Invistec Consulting Ltd. (Invistec) to complete a new Area Structure Plan (ASP) that is located within the Town and the Municipal District of Taber (the MD), named the Southeast ASP. This ASP will predominantly guide future commercial and industrial development of the area with opportunities for residential growth.

Project Process and Timeline

The ASP project will be completed in four phases, as shown in the project phases figure below. The project is currently in Phase 1 – Project Initiation, which focuses on the development and approval of a Communications Engagement Strategy. This strategy will guide public engagement, most of which will occur in Phases 2 and 3, when the public and stakeholders will have the opportunity to contribute towards the development of the ASP.

Phase 2 – Background Research & Analysis will involve gathering and assessing technical information on land use, servicing, transportation, and environmental conditions to build a vision and land use concept for the ASP. Phase 3 – ASP Preparation will focus on developing and refining land use concepts, infrastructure strategies, and policy directions that guide future development in the area. Lastly, Phase 4 – ASP Finalization & Approval will incorporate public and stakeholder input into a finalized plan that will be presented to Council for consideration and adoption.
