Business Resources

With the new Provincial mandate on masks, we know businesses may have some questions. The Town has provided the resources below for your use:

The Town also has posters and graphics available for businesses to download and use as they like:

Temporary Mandatory Face Coverings Bylaw 22-2020

Please note that the Provincial Government's mandatory mask mandate takes precedence over the Town's bylaw, but the Town's bylaw is still in effect as long at the Taber region remains in "enhanced" status due to COVID-19 cases. Where the Province does not outline mandatory masks (ie: public transportation such as taxis or busses), the Town’s bylaw will still apply and is subject to enforcement.
Please note that because the Province’s Health Order takes precedence over Town bylaws, any exemptions that may be outlined by the Province will be the only exemptions allowed for the duration of the Public Health Order on masks in Alberta.

Council of the Town of Taber has enacted a Bylaw 22-2020, the Temporary Mandatory Face Coverings Bylaw, and is effective November 30th, 2020. This bylaw has been enacted due to rising COVID-19 cases in our region.

This bylaw requires the use of facial coverings in all indoor, enclosed, substantially enclosed public place, or in a public vehicle.

This bylaw does contain enforcement for violations with a $100 fine. The Town’s intention is not to be punitive, but those who refuse to comply with the mandatory measures can be subject to a fine.

The Town would like to remind citizens that regardless of your views on masking, being kind is encouraged at all times. Please be courteous and non-judgmental to business owners, workers, and anyone you encounter in public, regardless of your viewpoint. As Dr. Hinshaw says: “we are all in this together” and we will get through this pandemic together as a community.

The Administration Building is open to the public. To facilitate this, we have implemented some measures to keep you safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • Masks are mandatory as per the Government of Alberta's Public Health Order and the Town of Taber's Temporary Mandatory Facial Coverings Bylaw.
  • We are only allowing one member of the public in the Town Lobby at one time.
  • Citizens must wait on the marks on the floor in the main lobby if there is someone ahead in line.
  • We ask that only one member of a household attend at a time to limit the amount of traffic in the office.
  • The Town has hand sanitizer in our lobbies for each visitor to use before and after their interactions.
  • Finally, we ask that anyone who feels ill or is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 not enter the Administration Building.
