Location

Taber is located in the heart of Southern Alberta, a region known for its rich agricultural lands, vast oil and gas activities and as regional powerhouse of food processing. The central location puts Taber at the cross roads of Highway 3 and Highway 36, providing easy access to major centers such as Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Calgary. Approximately one hour from Alberta's major port of entry to the US, businesses are connected to the US Interstate 15 at the Coutts border crossing, a CANAMEX trade corridor.

Business Climate

Taber is positioned as a strategic place for businesses as it offers affordable land and development prices while also offering a close proximity to larger markets. The surrounding agricultural area and numerous hamlets and villages contribute to Taber's strong and stable economy through trading relationships. Strong evidence of this is shown in the comprehensive retail sector not typically seen in Town's of similar size which services the surrounding areas.

Eureka Industrial Park

Professionally designed and build, the Eureka Industrial Park offers fully serviced and graded land including storm water services. Take advantage of highway exposure and easy access with Eureka's light and medium industrial lots. Choose from existing lots or talk to us about tailoring a lot to suit you business needs. As a new development of over 100 acres, Eureka's second phase provides the flexibility to customize lots to fit you needs.

Utilities

The Town of Taber has a strong utility infrastructure and competitive rates servicing residential, commercial and industrial properties. If you require additional information to grow or locate in Taber, TED can assist in connecting you with the appropriate staff to discuss costs, site requirements, or regulatory framework for water, sewer, storm sewer, garbage, and recycling. Current Town of Taber utility rates can be found here.

Taber also offers residents and businesses the rare opportunity to connect to Telus Fibre service. In 2015 Telus announced a $9.2 million investment to upgrade all services in the Town to Fibre optic. Residents and businesses enjoy some of the fastest and most reliable internet around. All new lots being developed come serviced with Fibre to the property.

Taxes

Together Taber and Alberta offer competitive tax rates to both residents and businesses alike. The province of Alberta offers no provincial retail sales tax, no provincial capital tax, and no provincial payroll tax. In addition to having the lowest gasoline tax in Canada, Alberta's corporate tax rates are among the lowest in the country. Taber also offers competitive property tax rates for both businesses and residents.
