Twinning is a process through which municipalities make bonds with other communities across the globe. They are often referred to as "sister cities" or "twinned towns." A twinned municipality can be whatever the community wants it to be, whether cultural, economic, or linked by a shared history or common theme.

Typically, twinnings are recognized with an official document signed by both parties outlining the nature of the relationship. Ultimately, twinned municipalities help citizens of both communities get to know one another and connect with other cultures and countries to foster global friendships.

The Town of Taber is officially twinned with two municipalities:

Higashiomi
Bondo Municipality
