Town of Taber asking for Community Feedback for Recreation Master Plan

Post Date:05/27/2019 4:02 PM

Recreation activities and services are significant contributors to people’s quality of life. These services, including facilities, programs, and events, enrich communities for residents and visitors alike. While the Town of Taber is a major player in the delivery of recreation, community organizations and volunteers are critical as well.

To ensure that residents and organizations continue to benefit from the Town’s investment and support, the Town of Taber is completing a Recreation Master Plan. This study will assess the current state of recreation in the community and identify priorities to ensure the needs of current and future residents are best met.

Consultation with the community is a major component to the development of this Master Plan. Community partners, organizations, and residents in Taber will be provided with opportunities to share their thoughts on the current situation and future needs. A survey will be fielded in May to gather the opinions of residents. As well, the perspectives of community groups will be gathered.

Gathering feedback from resident households is a very important part of the research needed to complete the Master Plan. A postcard (as seen below) will be mailed out to households with instructions on how to participate in the survey. The postcard will include a unique access code that will be needed to complete the questionnaire.

Please look in your mailbox in May for a postcard that looks like the one shown below. When given the opportunity please participate in the survey – your opinions matter!

Complete the survey here.

“This Recreation Master Plan is an important planning exercise for the future of the Town,” said Mayor Andrew Prokop. “I encourage everyone in the community to participate in its development by sharing their thoughts when given the chance.”
The Recreation Master Plan is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2019. For more information about the Master Plan please contact Dawn Phillips (Director of Recreation) at (403)-223-6019. Project updates will be posted on the Town’s website (
