Can I appeal my taxes? |
|
Property Owners do have the opportunity to appeal, but it is not the “taxes” that are appealed, it is the “assessed value” of the property. As the assessment is based on market value, it is easier for a property owner to evaluate whether his assessment is too high (or too low). The process and deadline for appeals is outlined on the reverse of the tax notice. |

What do I do if my sewer backs up? |
|
You must call a plumber if your sewer backs up. The plumber will determine the type and location of the blockage. The owner is responsible to maintain the sewer line from the building to the property line. |

I got a notice about a development in the mail. I frequently read about development hearings, bylaws, subdivisions, etc. in the paper and don't understand them. What should I do? |

These notices are required to be advertised by either provincial or municipal legislation. Some may only impact adjacent property owners but in many instances, they impact all residents within the Town. You should read these carefully. The notice will tell you what is happening, where it is happening, and what to do if you require more information or have a valid concern. |

I am planning a run to support a charity. This run will take place on the streets of Taber. Do I have to coordinate with the Town for this special event? |

Taber plays host to and welcomes special events throughout the year. In order to ensure that the Town of
Taber is aware of events and their possible impacts it is necessary to complete a Special Event Application
form. The process helps to ensure that organizers have made the proper arrangements for a safe and successful event.
A special event is any event or celebration that occurs that can be reasonably expected to impact the community and require services beyond those which are normally provided by the Town of Taber. Examples include but are not limited to parades, festivals, sporting events, expositions, rodeos, trade shows, runs/walks, etc. You can find more information on our Recreation site under Public Services or by contacting the Leisure Services Coordinator at 223-5542. Can I host a private party in the Aquafun Centre? |

You can rent a little price of paradise just for yourself, your family and friends. The weather is always balmy in the Aquafun Centre and is available for private rentals on Fridays from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and on Weekends after 6:00 PM. Call the Aquafun Centre at 223-5544 for more information. |
