Cemeteries

Taber Memorial Gardens, situated in the Town of Taber, is a dignified place of rest and quiet remembrance. Comprised of twenty acres of level ground, the cemetery has seven acres in active use with approximately 4700 burials. Our cemetery bears respectful witness to those who passed before us and by whose dreams, diligence and fortitude the Town of Taber and surrounding area were built.

The first cemetery bylaw of the Town of Taber was enacted by Council in the year 1923; however the land was surveyed and acquired for use as a place of rest in 1909. Though it may not have been official, the residents of the area were using the current site of Taber Memorial Gardens for burials as early as 1904 and the area remains in active use to this day.

The Taber Memorial Gardens is owned, maintained and administered by the Town of Taber and offers numerous burial options to serve our Community. Non-denominational and inclusive in design, the cemetery has several special burial areas including Infant, two Field of Honour sections and, in partnership with Southland Funeral Chapel, has recently added a Columbarium. All grave sites, other than Infant and Columbarium niches, are currently designated as full in ground burial sites however cremated remains may be interred as well.

The Town Public Services and Parks Departments maintain the cemetery with pride and strive to ensure the perpetual dignity of the final resting place for those buried here.
