Information for Potential Candidates

The purposes of a municipality are to provide good government, provide services, facilities or other things that, in the opinion of council, are necessary or desirable for all or a part of the municipality, and to develop and maintain safe viable communities. A council is responsible for developing and evaluating the policies and programs of the municipality and making sure that the powers, duties and functions of the municipality are appropriately carried out. Potenial candidates can best familiarize themselves by talking to members of Council or Administration, by spending some time reading
Council minutes and agendas
, and by reviewing the Town of Taber website for more information. Potential candidates are welcome to attend upcoming Council meetings, as are all members of the public.
